Unlocking investment in Central Australia
The first recipient of the Territory Growth Initiative (TGI), Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa Signature Walk has officially launched at Uluru.
The TGI is a Northern Territory Government program designed to fast-track private investment and drive economic growth across the Territory.
Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa Signature Walk, which is operated by the Tasmanian Walking Company received a $10 million concessional loan from the Northern Territory Government, unlocking a $25 million tourism boost for Central Australia.
During the construction phase, the project employed around 20 contractors with many of them local businesses and contributed $49.7 million to the Territory’s gross state product.
During the operational phase it is expected to generate approximately $18 million per year and employ up to 21 FTE with the majority to be based at Uluru, including Indigenous guides who will lead the walks.
Additional benefits to the region include:
- training of local Indigenous people in the fields of guiding, administration, operations (bus drivers, cleaners) and maintenance
- increased exposure of Central Australia as a premium tourist destination
- increased sales, support and promotion of local and regionally made products including bush tucker, art, and agricultural products such as beef and camel
- repeat visitation through increased exposure and provision new product experiences
- leveraged market share to other tourism and support businesses through increased visitation and profile for the region’s offerings
The Signature Walk offers guest an unforgettable 5-days and 4-nights of outback indulgence along a 54km trail inside the world heritage listed Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park.
Visitors will walk 54km between 2 global icons from the soaring domes of Kata Tjuṯa to the monolithic and mesmerising Uluṟu.
Eash day ends with refreshments, locally inspired meals with visitors resting in specially designed ecofriendly accommodation.
Bookings are now open for 2026.

UK and Ireland jobseekers look to the NT
Hundreds of jobseekers have flocked to the Northern Territory (NT) Government’s Global Worker Attraction information sessions across the UK and Ireland over the past fortnight.
The Global Worker Attraction Program is a NT Government initiative designed to connect skilled workers with employers and support long-term workforce growth.
The program is in response to strong demand for skilled workers across industries including construction, hospitality, trades, healthcare and technology.
The information sessions were delivered in partnership with the NT Government and peak industry bodies including the Chamber of Commerce NT, ICT Industry Association of the NT, Motor Trades Association NT, Housing Industry Association Northern Territory and Hospitality NT.
Information sessions were held in Belfast, Cork, Liverpool and Leeds. At each event attendees:
- explored live job opportunities with NT employers
- learned about visa pathways and migration options
- spoke directly with industry representatives
- got a firsthand understanding of life in the NT.
These sessions are designed to raise the profile of the NT as a desirable place to work and live, showcase the many career opportunities available, outline skilled migration options and enable industry representatives to engage one-on-one with potential jobseekers.
Territory businesses are strongly encouraged to upload their jobs to the WorkerConnect platform now, so they can connect with jobseekers and find new workers from the UK and Ireland information sessions.
For more information about how to join WorkerConnect and post a job for free, go to WorkerConnect.

Strengthening investment cooperation with South Korea
The Northern Territory (NT) Government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Samsung C&T to unlock new projects and investment across energy, marine, digital and defence-support sectors.
Samsung C&T is a leading global Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) player and is recognised for delivering high-value, complex and specialised engineering programs globally including the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa in Dubai and the iconic Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur.
Within Australia, Samsung SC&T has an established track record, helping to deliver Roy Hill iron ore mine in Western Australia (WA), the M4-M5 Motorway WestConnect in Western Sydney, and the Arrowsmith Green Hydrogen plant in Dongara, WA.
The NT is well positioned to be a focus area for Samsung C&T, given the clear opportunities presented by the Territory’s strategic positioning at the heart of the Asian region’s energy, communications and security highways.
The MoU builds on the first agreement signed in 2023, further deepening Samsung’s engagement and relationship with the NT over the past 2 years.
The MoU establishes a framework for collaboration, information exchange and to support priority opportunities across these key areas.
Importantly it provides an avenue for greater engagement with the broader Samsung international networks, providing market access discussions and introductions and potential for local jobs in construction, data, infrastructure, maritime support and energy sectors.
Samsung C&T Engineering & Construction Group, President of Global Business & Operations Unit, Mr Jung Wook Kim said, ‘we are pleased to continue strengthening our collaboration with the NT through this memorandum of understanding. The Territory presents a compelling environment, supported by its strategic location, abundant resources and growing role in regional energy and digital infrastructure.
‘By leveraging our global experience in delivering complex infrastructure projects, we look forward to working closely with the NT Government and local stakeholders to support sustainable, scalable outcomes.’
The MoU signing is part of the NT Government’s Investor Roadshow which includes a high-level government and industry delegation promoting the Territory’s key investment opportunities to key stakeholders in Japan and Korea.

Recognising the Territory’s top exporters and businesses
Outstanding businesses and start-ups are being sought for the 2026 Northern Territory (NT) Export and Businesses Awards.
The awards are supported by the NT Government and delivered by the Chamber of Commerce, bringing together the long-standing Export Awards and the well-established Business Excellence and Outstanding Customers Service Awards.
The Export Award categories recognise the outstanding achievements and success stories of Territory exporters.
Export businesses boost our economy by enhancing competitiveness, boosting sales, improving service quality, diversifying markets, accessing better resources, scaling costs, and increasing profits.
The awards celebrate and showcase the Territory businesses leading the way in exporting high-quality products and services around the world.
The Businesses Awards provides a unique opportunity to recognise the standout contributions and organisations who have made significant impact in their local communities.
The Businesses Awards acknowledges outstanding customer service and businesses excellence in their respected fields.
Each region of the Territory will have their own local Business Awards; there are 19 categories to nominate in.
Winners of the regional awards will go through as finalists to the NT Export and Business Gala Awards Ceremony in Darwin on 23 October.
To nominate, go the Northern Territory Chamber of Commerce and Industry website.
Winners of the NT export award categories will proceed to the Australian Export Awards in Canberra.

Growing with your business
Two Indigenous Centralians have fulfilled their burning career ambitions by becoming business owners.
Chris Croker and Sydney Malony were subcontractors for Alice Springs-based Hardy Fencing when they took over the business in 2019.
They have since expanded and bought long-established Northern Territory (NT) fabrication company Ross Engineering.
Chris and Sydney employ 30 staff – 19 at Hardy Fencing and 11 at Ross Engineering – and are keen to increase their Indigenous labour force.
Hardy Fencing was last year named Supplier of the Year by Supply Nation, the agency that certifies Indigenous businesses.
The award was in recognition of the company driving Indigenous-owned business and Indigenous employment, and their strong community involvement.
“We want to ensure there are pathways for Indigenous and unemployed youths into the industry,” said Chris.
“We want to see businesses that support and encourage people to get and retain jobs in Alice Springs.”
Hardy Fencing carries out a wide range of fencing throughout the Territory.
Customers include the NT Government, Alice Springs Town Council, building companies such as Blueprint and Pedersons, and many regional communities.
Ross Engineering, which was founded 78 years ago, also has a strong reputation, particularly in the construction industry.
The companies are a big part of the Alice Springs community – apart from employing local people, they also sponsor community events and sports teams.
The 2 Centralian entrepreneurs want to see more Indigenous people go into business on their own.
‘Take the leap,’ said Sydney. ‘Go for it.’
