A renowned Alice Springs filmmaker is showcasing the Northern Territory at the 2025 Osaka World Expo in Japan.

NT cinematographer Chris Tangey's films are screening day and night at the entrance to the Australia Pavilion.

Expo 2025 Osaka officially opened its doors to the public on 13 April.

Between now and October 2025, more than 28 million visitors are expected to attend the World Expo.

The films are being displayed on a 12-metre screen at the Australian Pavilion run by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Two of the 9 films have been made specifically for the Northern Territory: 'the ‘Red Centre' and 'the Territory'.

The World Expo is a great chance for Territory businesses to break into global markets, make new connections, and attract fresh business and investment opportunities.

Mr Tangey said his work was about giving people a feel for Australia and the Territory.

"I hope to really get through to people’s souls, to get them to be moved by what’s in front of them and move to that to action, to come over," said Mr Tangey.

“It’s a great vote of confidence, and sort of builds interest in identifying other commercial prospects and opening up the many great opportunities for collaboration in-markets such as Japan."

With participation from over 150 countries, the World Expo presents a valuable opportunity to strengthen the Northern Territory’s strong bilateral relationship with Japan and to showcase the Territory’s unique strengths to a global audience.
