October Business Month International Series – calendar of events

The International Series showcases a range of international engagement and trade opportunities to support business.

Businesses seeking to learn more about international engagement, or opportunities for import/export trade opportunities can meet with key organisations such as DFAT, Austrade, the International Business Council, the Australia Indonesia Business Council and the Consulate General for Timor-Leste just to name a few.

This is an exciting program held across October Business Month 2022.


3 October 2022

SME Export and Business Development Roundtable Central Australia – Alice Springs

This SME Export roundtable business discussion will look at challenges and opportunities in Central Australia.

Representatives will also outline Government initiatives available to grow and diversify the Central Australian business and trade landscape.

Join us for the SME Export and Business Development Roundtable Central Australia.

Representatives from the Northern Territory Government including Small Business Champions and Austrade will also talk about initiatives available to support SME growth and diversification.

The roundtable will be followed by a networking event at the Central Australia Development Office to launch the start of October Business Month between 4 and 5pm. Light refreshments and catering will be provided.

Chief Ministers Northern Territory Export Awards – Darwin

The 29th Chief Ministers NT Export Awards 2022 to celebrate their export successes, innovation and business resilience.

The awards recognise the outstanding achievements and success stories of Territory exporters. Winners progress as finalists to the Australian Export Awards to compete against their peers and receive national recognition.

Tickets are $100 per person.

This event is coordinated by the Chamber of Commerce NT, with support from Austrade and the Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade.

Doing Business with Timor-Leste – Darwin

Hear from representatives from Trade Invest Timor-Leste and the Timor-Leste Consul General, regarding the diversity of trade linkages with the Territory including opportunities for business, trade and investment. This is a great opportunity to learn more about cross-cultural engagement opportunities and to get an update on skills and labour force.

Timor–Leste is one of the 10 participating countries of the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme supplying low and semi-skilled workers to the Territory to fill labour shortages.

Darwin and Dili also share a sister city relationship.

Hear from Mr Michael Png, the Northern Territory Government representative based in Singapore.

Come along to Michael’s presentation to learn more about doing business with Singapore and to learn more about cross-cultural engagement and overcoming the implications of the new trading environment.

Michael will share his knowledge regarding areas of opportunity for trade and investment between the Territory and Singapore and the range of projects currently underway and in the pipeline.

This will be an open workshop session with an opportunity for businesses to ask questions.

About Mr Michael Png

Michael has 25 years of experience in Singapore and Malaysia through various positions in business development, sales and marketing across various sectors including government, manufacturing, retail, and services. This complements his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Hull, England.

Prior to joining Austrade, Mr Png worked with the UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT) in Singapore as a Trade & Investment Manager for over 13 years.

Hear from Mr Yudistira Adipratama is the newly appointed Northern Territory Government representative in Indonesia.

Come along to Yudi’s presentation to learn more about doing business with Indonesia and to learn more about cross-cultural engagement.

Yudi will share his knowledge regarding areas of opportunity for trade and investment between the Territory and Indonesia.

Discussion on potential opportunities for NT businesses in the moving of Indonesia’s capital from Jakarta to Nusantara, East Kalimantan.

This will be an open workshop session with an opportunity for businesses to ask questions.

This session is a great lead in ahead of the Australia-Indonesia Business Council meeting, to be held in Darwin on 2-4 November 2022.

About Mr Yudistira Adipratama

Mr Adipratama is a Jakarta based lawyer and owner of Indonesian law firm K-Case Lawyers.

Mr Adipratama received the Australia Awards Scholarship while studying his Masters of Laws at University of Melbourne.

He is currently the Australia Indonesia Business Council ambassador and previously held a role as Culture and Tourism Jakarta, international Youth Ambassador in Berlin, Germany.

Mr Yudistira (Yudi) Adipratama is the newly appointed Northern Territory Government representative in Indonesia.
