Facing North
Facing North is a collaborative arrangement between the Darwin Major Business Group and the Northern Territory (NT) Government. The initiative provides a unique opportunity for NT businesses and industry representatives to meet with federal parliamentarians and key government and industry decision makers and forge key relationships for the future business and economic benefit to the Territory.
The inaugural event was attended by 300 people in 2017 and the program grew and evolved to include roundtable industry meetings held alongside the evening showcase and reception in 2019. After a four year hiatus the fourth bi-partisan Facing North program was delivered in 2023 with a refreshed approach. The program comprised of a full day forum, reception and showcase held in the Great Hall of Parliament House and post event delegate networking function. Over 200 Territorians travelled to Canberra to participate, with the reception attended by 400 people, showcasing the very best of the Northern Territory business, industry, culture and a unique Territory inspired menu highlighting Territory flavours and produce. The event generated significant interest within Australian Parliament House and demonstrated how Territory business, industry, Traditional Owners and government work together to accelerate the development of the Northern Territory.
Planning for a Facing North 2025 delegation to Canberra is underway, with the event anticipated to be held in early 2025. A range of participation options including full attendance as a delegate, exhibiting or participating in networking opportunities will be presented.
